The Perinatal Depression Initiative aims to improve the early detection of depression during pregnancy and in the postnatal period. A primary objective of the program is to provide better support and treatment for expectant and new mothers experiencing depression.
Applications are sought from experienced, enthusiastic and innovative mental health workers who would like to be part of this exciting initiative.
Successful applicants will be collocated with maternity and maternal and child health services, and will provide support and mental health care for women during pregnancy and up to twelve months after the birth of a child.
The Perinatal Emotional Health Program Clinicians (PEHPC) will provide specialist assessment to women and, where appropriate, facilitate access to appropriate mental health services. They will also offer treatment and follow up when other services are not available or accessible.
In addition, the PEHPC will provide education to families and healthcare workers about perinatal mental health, including up-skilling of midwives and maternal and child health nurses in the management of mental health problems.
Ongoing training, peer support and clinical supervision will be provided to successful applicants.

Latrobe Regional Hospital Mental Health Services are looking to recruit a person who has had previous experience in Triage or crisis assessment team.
The Triage Clinician will work collaboratively with the area mental health service providers. It is a 24-hour service 7 days a week. The triage service provides timely and expert mental health assessments and proactively supports people to access appropriate mental health care through a single point of entry. The Triage Clinician ensures effective clinical decision making encompassing psychiatric assessment, risk management and care planning by providing telephone based assessment, support and referral.
The Triage Clinician also supports existing clients and carers, particularly after hours, to assist in relapse prevention. The Triage Clinician facilitates communication between community and inpatient units and supports the Hospital Coordinator to ensure efficiency of bed management.
