Medical Education Officer

Latrobe Regional Hospital is actively seeking a dynamic individual with a keen interest in the education of interns, residents, and international medical graduates (IMG's). Under the guidance of the Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria (PMCV), the successful candidate will be responsible for the education of junior doctors, training initiatives and strategies. The candidate will work closely with other members of the medical service unit in the peformance of assigned tasks.

Ideally suited for this position are individuals with a nursing, allied health (e.g. physiotherapy or pharmacy) or other medical background seeking stimulating part-time employment.

Latrobe Regional Hospital (LRH) is a 257-bed fully integrated public health service located in Traralgon West, midway between Morwell and Traralgon in the Latrobe Valley. It is a major teaching hospital for the Gippsland Medical School of Monash University. The hospital participates in a training consortium with Southern Health (Monash Medical Centre) with interns and registrars in a variety of clinical disciplines on campus. Additionally, LRH has 5 interns who spend their first postgraduate year in Gippsland as part of the Gippsland Rural Intern Training program. It is with these junior doctors that the efforts of the Medical Education Officer are primarily aimed.

The Latrobe Valley offers easy access (within 2 hours drive) to the Gippsland Lakes, Wilson’s Promontory, beautiful beaches, ski resorts and the Alpine mountain regions of Victoria.

GIPPSLAND HEALTH ALLIANCE

The Gippsland Health Alliance (GHA) is a consortium of public hospitals and primary care service providers throughout the Gippsland Region of Victoria, with combined annual operating revenue of some $350M. A primary objective of GHA is to develop and maintain information, computing and telecommunications (ICT) infrastructure and projects, though the services of the Chief Information Officer’s (CIO) office located at Morwell, Victoria.

The CIO Office requires the services of several project / application support officers to resource upcoming project implementation and provide a degree of application support during the change management period.

These roles will be required to
• Provide project planning and administration including internal reporting and issue management.
• Coordinate with GHA agencies to ensure that planned activities are completed on schedule.
• Assist with system testing pre and post implementation.
• Gain in depth knowledge of the systems implemented and functionality to subsequently support GHA system users.
• Produce training materials and aids to complement and maximise training efficiency.
• Deliver initial and maintenance training to system users using flexible methodology to meet user requirements and limitations.
• Receive and log issues in the GHA Service Desk system and ensure response is provided in a timely manner.
• Contribute to the maximisation of application benefits by identifying innovative and best practice using the application.
• Escalate problems as required to the GHA Service Desk.

These will be fixed term contract positions between 12 and 24 months depending on the project, and based on the current HSUA (Victorian Public Sector) Interim Award, with the total remuneration package to be negotiated based on skills, experience and qualifications.
